Speaker

Ben Sigler is a partner at Stephenson Harwood in London, specializing in commercial litigation and leading the firm’s sports practice. He brings extensive experience in dispute resolution, including arbitration, litigation, and regulatory investigations, with a particular focus on the financial and technology sectors.

Ben has acted for, and against, sovereign states and other governmental entities, banks, and corporates, as well as high-net worth individuals, and the majority of his instructions include a significant cross-border element.

Ben recent work includes advising on a number of commercial arbitration mandates and related matters which engage emergent areas of the law including, but not limited to: (1) the intersection between arbitration and cross-border restructurings; and (2) issues relating to corruption in arbitration. Including, claims which have been pursued in an attempt to defraud consistent with that identified in Contax Partners Inc BVI v Kuwait Finance House and Ors [2024] EWHC 436 (Comm) which related to attempts to enforce an arbitration award which had not, in fact, ever been made, and derived from a fictitious arbitration.
